victoria square a history - kim wiltshire
Build around 1896, Victoria Square was the first municipal housing in Manchester, and the oldest still in use. Utilising the creating skills of its residents, a book using fact, fiction and anecdotes as well as new and found imagery links the history of this fascinating building to the history of Manchester and the stories of those living in the square.
The project was funded by Manchester City Council and Arts Council England. Writer Kim Wiltshire and photographer Graeme Vaughan worked with residents at Victoria Square sheltered housing to create a social history of 'The Dwellings'.
